Throughout the development process of PCB, since the 1950s, the global PCB industry pattern has experienced a development process from "European and American leading" to "Asian leading", and the trend of PCB industry moving eastward is obvious.

The PCB industry was initially led by Europe and the United States. With the rise of Japan's electronics industry, Japan joined the leading ranks, forming a situation in which the United States, Japan and Europe stood at the same time. In the 21st century, with the development of Asian economy, relying on the advantages of land and labor force to attract investment from old PCB manufacturers, the manufacturing industry of the United States and Japan has gradually moved eastward to Taiwan, South Korea, and then to Chinese Mainland, forming a situation dominated by Asia.

From 2001 to 2017, the proportion of PCB output value in Europe, the United States and Japan continued to decline. The United States dropped from 26% in 2000 to 4.66% in 2017; Europe dropped from 16% in 2000 to 3.34% in 2017; Japan dropped from 19.17% to 8.93% in 2017. The proportion of PCB output value in Asia is rising, from 29% in 2000 to 59.46% in 2017. As Taiwan and South Korea's PCB industries are also gradually moving eastward, Chinese Mainland surpassed all regions in 2009 and became the center of global PCB industry transfer. By 2017, the industry accounted for 50.37%, accounting for half of the PCB industry.

According to Prismark's prediction, the output value of the global PCB industry will continue to grow in the next few years, and the output value of the global PCB industry will reach nearly 76 billion US dollars by 2022. From a global perspective, China's PCB industry has developed the fastest, with a compound growth rate of about 5.1% from 2014 to 2019, 2% higher than the global growth rate. It is estimated that China's PCB output value is expected to reach US $33.6 billion by 2019. With the transfer of the global PCB industry, China is expected to win the leading position in the PCB industry in the global competition.
